Gothic 1084 & 1403

Beginning as a 2-BR a 1.5 BA, traditionally styled starter home, the Gothic 1084 has plenty of room in the downstairs shared spaces to expand.  With a pre-planned rear addition, the house can be adapted to suit your future needs.  Why move away from your dream home, when you can simply expand it?

About the plan

This is a modern take on a common Gothic style house seen in various incarnations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and throughout the US. Whereas smaller versions of this traditional layout tend to be chopped up into small rooms, we wanted to see how an open floorplan sensibility might look. The result works nicely for a couple of practically any age that doesn’t mind stairs. The second floor can be configured for either a home office or a second bedroom, and the house can easily expand over time to accommodate a growing family. Study Plans and Construction Plans detail out a rear addition with a single-car garage on the first floor and second floor living space, expanding the house to 1,403 sq.ft. The extra room can be a master suite with full bath or a multi-purpose room, depending on your needs. The addition can be built during initial construction or added on years later.

Big Picture Information

Study Plans

If you’ve found the flyer compelling, the next step is to get serious about building the house. Our Study Plans consist of detailed drawings that let you discuss your project with a builder and begin to work up semi-realistic costs. For more info, click here:

Construction Plans

Whether you’re building a code-compliant plan or chose to add our Enhanced Efficiency details to create a high-performance home, you will start by reaching out via the contact page so we can work up a proposal.  We’ve found that selling stock plans and leaving you trying to figure out how to get them built is not a good experience.  We know there will need to be changes based on local building requirements, and you probably want to tweak things a bit yourself.  For a more detailed explanation for why we only provide custom plans, click here:

Customized Plans

We recognize that the best houses are designed to fit the site, local climate and the owner’s lifestyle. We are happy to customize any of our plans, so please contact us for an initial discussion.

Natural Homes

We do not sell pre-designed natural homes on our website--there are just too many variables to make that feasible. Whether you are already knowledgeable about natural home building techniques, or want to begin to educate yourself, contact us for an initial discussion.
